Salmon Eye in Norway Chooses Liquidfloors
West Flanders, September 3, 2022
KORTRIJK – This weekend, the renowned Kortrijk-based flooring company Liquidfloors, led by CEO Miguel Garcia, proudly unveiled a major international reference project. In Norway, the grand opening took place of a prestigious and groundbreaking architectural structure: Salmon Eye, a spectacular concept in the far north. The event was attended by dignitaries, politicians, and artists who came to admire not only the unique design of the building, but also the exceptional material choices, including seamless floors by Liquidfloors, made in Kortrijk.
Salmon Eye, a striking exhibition and dialogue center developed as a global platform for sustainable aquaculture, is essentially a floating structure with a diameter of 26 meters and a height of 15 meters. It is clad with over 9,500 "fish scales" made of polished stainless steel. Each year, thousands of visitors will enjoy both immersive underwater experiences and breathtaking views over the stunning Hardangerfjord, the fifth-largest fjord in the world.
Liquidfloors, a trendsetter in decorative seamless floors, was selected to provide both flooring and wall finishes for the project. The family business, founded in 2009 by brothers Miguel and Caëtan Garcia, has evolved from a local installer with in-house product development into a true product leader in its niche.
Strategic Shift
Liquidfloors’ seamless floor systems are now chosen by leading architects around the globe and installed by certified professionals across various regions and countries. Due to rising international demand, the company is adjusting its strategy.
“We’ve been receiving more international project inquiries than we can currently handle with our own team,” explains CEO Miguel Garcia. “That’s why we’re constantly on the lookout for top-tier installation firms and we train certified partners in the application of our systems. These partners, as authorized installers, can then represent and apply our products in their own markets. In the case of Salmon Eye, the installation was completed by a local Norwegian contractor.”
To further strengthen the brand, Liquidfloors is now differentiating between product development and local installation. “In Belgium, we’ll continue installations through our newly named in-house service, Flooristic. This allows us to directly serve West and East Flanders, Brussels, and Antwerp with our own team, while also supplying trained installers in more distant regions. Our ambition is clear: wherever we are active, we want to support the best installation companies with our materials. And there are no shortcuts to that, we simply have to be the best choice.”
Earlier this year, Liquidfloors collaborated with its Scandinavian partner Michelsens on a high-profile project in Bergen, Norway, for renowned fashion designer T-Michael. Currently, the company is working on a new art gallery in Paris, scheduled for completion later this month.
