For this farmhouse in Knokke, Bovijn & Partners guided a thorough renovation in which the character of the original building remained central. The former barn structure, with its brick walls and heavy timber beams, still forms the heart of the home, while contemporary interventions introduce comfort and modern functionality.
In the renovated barn, Carran was selected as the defining floor finish. The mineral floor creates a calm foundation beneath the impressive roof structure and raw brickwork. Its seamless surface keeps the open volume visually clear, allowing the scale of the barn to fully come into its own. The material pairs naturally with the textures of wood and masonry, reinforcing the authentic character of the building.
In the entrance area and bathroom, Socrete was applied. This mineral resin finish continues into the shower, where its water-resistant properties and seamless character are especially valuable. The finish integrates neatly against walls and corners, giving even smaller spaces a calm and carefully considered appearance.
For the garage, Endur was chosen, a robust epoxy floor finish designed to withstand heavy use and daily wear. By assigning each material a clear purpose, the home gives every space its own identity while maintaining visual cohesion through the soft, continuous surfaces of the floors.
