For more than fifty years, Orthovano has been helping people with custom made orthopaedic shoes and insoles. During the renovation of its Kortrijk location, one objective was central: creating a practice where comfort, precision and everyday use come together. The different flooring finishes were carefully selected according to the function of each space.
In the examination rooms and gait analysis areas, Mellow was chosen. The silky soft PU resin floor provides a pleasant walking experience and feels comfortable with every step. In an environment where patients often walk barefoot and precise foot measurements are carried out, Mellow creates a calm and comfortable foundation that supports everyday use.
The light, even appearance of the floor contributes to a bright and well considered environment where the focus remains entirely on the treatment. As the resin floor is applied seamlessly, it creates an easy to maintain surface that perfectly meets the hygienic requirements of an orthopaedic practice.
The true focal point of the project, however, can be found at the heart of the building. The imposing spiral staircase was completely finished in Carran, allowing the staircase, steps and balustrade to merge into one fluid form. The mineral texture accentuates the soft curves of the design, making the structure appear as though it were sculpted from a single solid volume.
Carran demonstrates with this imposing spiral staircase the versatility of a mineral resin finish. Not only floors, but also complex architectural elements can be finished seamlessly. The subtle variations created by the handcrafted application add depth to the staircase and further emphasise its flowing character.
For the warehouse, Endur was selected, a robust epoxy flooring solution designed to withstand intensive daily use and functional loads. Each space therefore receives a finish tailored to its specific purpose, while the entire project maintains one consistent material vision.
The result is a practice where comfort, functionality and architecture reinforce one another. From the soft walking experience of Mellow to the expressive Carran staircase, each finish forms a carefully considered part of the overall experience.
