At the heart of the open landscape of Kanegem stands a private residence that opens widely onto its surroundings. Large glass surfaces draw the landscape inside, while soft curves shape the architecture throughout the interior. Socrete follows that movement as a seamless cast floor, connecting the living spaces with the wine cellar and bathroom.
The light-toned mineral resin floor forms a calm foundation for the bold use of materials throughout the home. Dark wood veneer is combined with richly veined natural stone, while metal and glass accents refine the whole. The nuances within Socrete bring cohesion without pushing the other materials into the background. This balance comes through strongly in the kitchen, where the floor softens the dark tones of the custom cabinetry and complements the rounded forms.
In the wine cellar, Socrete was applied beyond the floor alone. The material reappears on the tabletop, finished in a vivid red colour. Set among wooden wine racks, dark metal structures and warm lighting, the mineral finish takes on a different character here, becoming part of the bespoke interior design.
Socrete also extends into the bathroom. The poured floor runs into the walk-in shower and was applied over the full surface of the bath. This creates one continuous mineral volume, its soft curves contrasting beautifully with the dark metal fixtures and rich natural stone. Socrete's water-resistant, non-porous properties also make this floor finish especially well suited to wet areas.
By applying a single mineral resin floor in different ways, the home develops a recognisable material language throughout. Socrete connects the various spaces while still allowing wood, natural stone, metal and custom joinery to retain their own character. The result is a refined interior in which the poured floor supports the architecture and brings the different materials together in a natural way.
