Liquidfloors and Hexagon Build Park Apart
Focus on Redevelopment and Biodiversity
Available building space in Flanders is becoming increasingly scarce. The Flemish Government has announced a concrete stop by 2040. How this measure will be implemented in practice remains to be seen. But some developers and construction companies aren’t waiting for legislation to act. Instead, they are already approaching scarce space in a conscious and sustainable way. One such example is West Flanders-based Hexagon which focuses on innovative project development and the reconversion of industrial sites. And this turns out to be a wise approach.
Hexagon, active as a developer in West and East Flanders, was founded in 2017 by Jelle Vandendriessche. With extensive experience in large-scale redevelopment and industrial projects throughout Flanders, he has positioned Hexagon as a pioneer in innovative property development, for both commercial and residential real estate. The mission? Not to build randomly wherever it is allowed, but to intelligently repurpose existing sites and make optimal use of available space.
With a compact team of six passionate professionals, Hexagon is literally building a sustainable future, with a strong focus on the environment and biodiversity. The company is continuously searching for new plots and projects to develop. Its real estate projects stand out for their engaging architecture, use of sustainable techniques, and the creation of spaces where living and working are genuinely enjoyable.
Spotlight on Park Apart in Zwevegem
One of the projects currently in the spotlight is the development of a new business site in Zwevegem. The Apart business park will become the base for 22 SMEs from the region. The 1.5-hectare site was previously occupied by Sobelcard. When the company relocated a large portion of its production, the time was right to breathe new life into the location. After the Flemish Government approved the brownfield covenant design, Hexagon was able to move forward with its redevelopment plans, together with Liquidfloors, who already had offices on the site. Since November 2021, demolition and environmental remediation have been underway. Construction of the new business park began in early 2022, with completion expected by the end of the following year.
Community and Sustainability
With 4,143 m² of storage and office space, a prime location near the E17 motorway, and full facilities for storage, logistics, and production, the Park Apart project offers numerous benefits to prospective buyers. The SME units are fully modular, both in configuration and in combination with office space. Tailor-made finishing ,with attention to cutting-edge design, is entirely possible. To date, 8 of the 22 units have already been sold.
All entrepreneurs in this SME park will be part of the Hexaclub, an online and offline community that rolls out the red carpet for networking with fellow business owners — including those from other SME sites developed by Hexagon. This creates a unique environment for sharing inspiring ideas and leveraging each other’s services.
As with all of its redevelopment projects, Hexagon is fully committed to sustainability and biodiversity in the realization of Park Apart. Specifically: each buyer has the option to install solar panels, sustainable construction methods are used throughout the build, and smart land use is combined with maximum rainwater buffering for reuse and infiltration.
